Frequently Asked Questions

How deep do you grind stumps? +
Our standard finish is typically about 4–6 inches below grade when the site allows. When the job calls for it, we can grind deeper—often up to about 16 inches below grade—depending on underground utilities, rock, slope, roots, and what you are doing next with the area (turf, mulch, beds, hardscape prep, etc.).
Can your grinder fit through my backyard gate? +
Often yes—if the path really fits. Our grinder is about 35 inches wide with tracks retracted (wider with tracks out for traction), and you still need room to turn. Send gate width, path photos, and notes on steps, slope, walls, or tight corners before we schedule.
Do I need an 811 utility locate before stump grinding? +
Generally required and highly recommended. NC 811 has a 3-business-day turnaround once submitted—we file the request and build that wait into the schedule so your job date is already set. Private lines—irrigation, low-voltage lighting, propane, pool, septic, pet fence, and similar—usually need separate locating unless we have arranged that in advance.
